While watching the pro at Mundacca, I remember Sunny Garcia and Taylor Knox ripping the head high surf to bits. What struck me was the speed and power of their moves compared with other pro's. The secret was a bigger board, rather than the 'rocket chip's'.

BJ performance shortie follows this theme. It is a true performance board, yet forgiving. A distinctive width creates and maintains speed coupled with a profile that will attack small baggy mush and big wedges alike.

A steeper yet shorter nose rocker developed from waveski's (see about) lends itself to a larger connection with the water and thus a quicker pick-up and faster board.
The foil profile and outline lend itself to a greater level of foot positions. This makes it easier to pump for speed, stall, throw big gouges but more importantly, be forgiving to the intermediate surfer pushing his level.

Slight concave complements the nose rocker to a flat bottom. The flat bottom is fast in UK slop, with soft rails to hold in the face. Perfect for rail to rail surfing, big carves and for those getting used to less volume. This terminates at the tail with a little V. This acts as a fulcrum so that leverage is provided, allowing vertical and radical maneuvers. People love these boards. Key is the outline being a little wider, softer rails that transition to hard and release at a 'thumb tail' that offers best of squash tails and round pin tails. They maintain the surface area of the squash and incorporate the smooth transitions of a round pin through maneuvers. Ensuring tail lift and speed at the low end or in poor conditions.
